Sacrificing sleep on a Saturday morning, the Octans met at Jurongland to paint the flag. It also marked the very first time the Freshies stepped onto NTU soil!
Two new faces were spotted amongst the crowd:
From left: Zack and Daniel
Zack comes from a line of ODAC blood and is very well-versed in the language of outdoors. In his youth, he has traversed quite so many mountains and has endured a handful of sandflies attack. Lesson learnt: Go trekking with a stinky BO so that no flies would dare come anywhere near you!
Daniel's unconventional hairstyle screams "ADM"!!! He shall be very delighted to know that Pretty Princess K. would be more than happy to play lead character to his blockbuster when time comes. Lesson learnt: Obey Pretty Princess' words and you shall graduate with a First Class Honours with my First-Grade acting!
Our resident designer, Kim Joo, began the day by showing us a design of some horrifying hydra..., which unfortunately earned thumbs-up from everyone else. The rationale of enlisting the monster as our bumbling mascot is because the tail of the Hydra is symbol to the Omnipotent Octans.
Surrounded by the ever so attractive Octanites, our pet Hydra could not conceal her shyness. Her countenance gradually radiated a healthy pink hue and it was matched with mauve mascara. The overall effect made her appearance much more amiable.
and very much like a Pretty Unicorn! =^_^=
But while the Freshies toiled under the hot sun, the lazy Seniors were caught thinking about their stomachs instead!
Time was spent hydrating themselves with milo-peng and teh-peng (a drink for all the Lao Ah Peks in the world)... and masticating sticky mochi-mochi (compliments from Quack3's Roomie, Lawrence.)
Inept Seniors aside, the Freshies independently whipped out their creative masterpieces in a flash of time!
As we sneakily knocked from door-to-door spying on other groups' works, it was of little dispute that ours shone with such laudable appeal.
Hours after midday, our duty was fulfilled and we proudly posed with our creation.
A scrutiny at our efforts had us realise that our flag can be malleably fixed by gender. A disgruntled, ill-humoured gent could carry the ferocious Hydra marked in black and white; while the rosy Hydra would complement an exuberant and sweet damsel! Whee~
We were rewarded with a sumptuous spread of beef ball noodle, fish and chips, and chicken rice at Canteen 2 before amassing items required for the coming Monday camp.
Banner Painting was good opportunity for the Seniors to bark mercilessly and make the Freshmen follow their bidding. But most importantly, it was also a chance to know one another a little better in order to... Not choose a snoring git to sleep next to during camp (And Princess so does not snore!!!) >,<
